For most of us, things haven’t felt “normal” in a long time….there are energies of anger, frustration, fear and chaos swirling all over the globe, a sea of mass consciousness in which we are immersed. Mass media and social media churn out story after story to stimulate our emotions, to keep us reading and engaged. What appears to be emerging is increased polarization between groups, increased hatred and less tolerance of the “other”, increased violence – darker, lower energies are emerging. What can we do? What power do we have to yield in the confusion, chaos and disorder?

Firstly, it is important to understand that if we believe everything we are being shown through the media, through fake news, through the stories being told to us by our friends, then we immediately become part of the problem. If we emotionally react, then we become an even bigger part of the problem. As has been stated before, the world is not as it is but as we see it. If we are triggered by the events that are occurring, it is because there is a place within us that resonates with what we perceive we see. Hatred of others is an energy of self-hatred within us that is being triggered when we view certain groups; anger in reaction to what is perceived is happening is unexpressed anger within us; fear of what we perceive is happening is fear and powerlessness that resides within us being triggered. We see the world not as it is, but as we are. These emotions have energy; the more people feel these emotions, the more these energies amass, and they can take on a life of their own. How we react to all that is happening has consequences, for the energetic quality of the response can add more energy to fear, chaos, and anger. What we think and how we feel has consequences, in the larger world around us. Becoming aware of your own thoughts and feelings as you watch, read, and converse is a first step towards becoming part of the solution.

Notice within you if anything is triggered as you engage in the world, knowing it is your choice whether to watch the news, follow the Facebook page or Twitter account, or bring information into your awareness through any other means. Due to the highly emotional nature of the stories, it is easy to be drawn in, and to become addicted to the next “fix” – the more sensational and outrageous and damning the story, the more your addiction is fueled and rewarded. Notice if you feel angrier, more fearful, more anxious and less uncertain after you have engaged, and find where in your body this resonates. Ask yourself what this reminds you of, and explore what comes up for you as you sense into the energy. Ask yourself if this is energy you want to send out into the world to be added to the mass consciousness of the earth plane. Is it love and light? Or is it fear, chaos, worry, anger, hatred? You can then choose if you want to send this energy into the world.

How do we remain neutral? This is difficult if there are stored emotional energies within you that need to be released. The next step may be to systematically find and transform these energies so they do not have the ability to control your thoughts and feelings (you are bringing light to what is subconscious). By doing so, there are less triggers – a decrease in similar lower frequency energies that can be attracted to you and you them.

We can also learn to release the need to judge – to designate experiences, thoughts, feelings, ideas, etc. as good or bad, right or wrong, helpful or not helpful. To come to a place where we accept and understand that things just ARE, and it is only our judgment of them that determines (at least for us) whether it is good or bad. Here is a Taoist parable to explain further:

Once upon a time there was a Chinese farmer whose horse ran away. That evening, all of his neighbors came around to commiserate. They said, “We are so sorry to hear your horse has run away. This is most unfortunate.” The farmer said, “Maybe.” The next day the horse came back bringing seven wild horses with it, and in the evening everybody came back and said, “Oh, isn’t that lucky. What a great turn of events. You now have eight horses!” The farmer again said, “Maybe.” The following day his son tried to break one of the horses, and while riding it, he was thrown and broke his leg. The neighbors then said, “Oh dear, that’s too bad,” and the farmer responded, “Maybe.” The next day the conscription officers came around to conscript people into the army, and they rejected his son because he had a broken leg. Again all the neighbors came around and said, “Isn’t that great!” Again, he said, “Maybe.”

This farmer understood that there is a higher plan to all things, and he could never know whether something was good or bad. If we can accept that things are just as they are, and refrain from making them good or bad, right or wrong, we can more easily flow with things as they occur. Find and maintain the peace within you, and let the events of life come and go without judgment, and avoid personalizing the events (thinking they are happening to you, are about you, are an attack on you, etc). And by maintaining your peace, this is the energy you send into the world. This is the energy you add to counteract the chaos.

Meditate, do your practice (qigong, yoga, writing, art, etc), and become the stillness within – only by stilling your own energy can you become an agent of transformation for the planet. Become the energy you want to see in the world. “Be the change you want to see in the world….In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” (Ghandi). We need more people who refrain from taking a side to create more peace in the world. There is no side. Thinking that there is a side is an illusion. There is only the side you think there is. And if you took your thinking out of it, there would be no side, only peace.

What do we do in chaos? We find the peace within and sit in it, and allow ourselves to become it. No matter what occurs around you, sitting and being in that peace is the greatest power there is. When you have power over yourself – your own thoughts and feelings, nothing else can have power over you.

Best blessings to you in navigating through the chaos….it has been said that confusion is a very high state (Daben)….
